Academy Medical Announces Federal Supple Schedule Contract

Academy Medical is pleased to announce their approval of a 10-year (5+5) Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. These contracts are long-term, indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts that are delegated and awarded by the General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA developed Schedule Contracts to assist federal employees in purchasing products and services by eliminating the time-consuming price negotiation process. With an FSS contract, what was once a winding, frustrating process of procuring goods and products for the federal government becomes an effective, streamlined one.

Academy Medical’s status as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) allows the company to provide manufacturers access points to contracts such as the Strategic Acquisition Center (SAC) Top 18 Implants, Distribution and Pricing Agreements (DAPA), Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA), and more. This access provides a venue for manufacturers to make available the top quality, new and innovative products necessary to deliver the excellent care our veterans and active military personal and their families deserve.

“As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we continue to build and expand our brand to work across all branches of government to ensure our ability to provide the federal medical procurement community with the supplies and technology that they need most,” says Dan Shaw, Academy Medicals President.

Providing government purchasing agents and contracting officers a streamlined procurement process is the main goal of Academy Medical’s business. As industry experts, Academy Medical’s leadership understand just how crucial time is to medical professionals. When the required product isn’t ordered and delivered in a timely fashion, patient care can suffer. When patients require a specific product, there can be major health consequences if the procedure is pushed back by a lack of supplies.

The importance of an effective procurement is illustrated in this quote by Chris Holt, leader of Global Healthcare at Amazon Business:

“Technology is rapidly changing the healthcare industry: surgeries are microscopic, patients have virtual appointments, doctors offer 3D visualizations on medical scans and more. But while these advancements in patient care are happening on the front lines, there seems to be a gridlock in the healthcare supply chain industry behind the scenes. Hours are wasted each day on ordering supplies and inventory is not always in stock, which leads to delayed procedures, higher costs, and ultimately, a negative impact on patients.”

With the brand-new FSS contract under its belt, Academy Medical can provide VA contract access to major medical and surgical suppliers of the highest-quality—including those from prestigious vendors such as, Entellus Medical, Invuity, PulseFlow DF, and Orpyx Medical Technologies. To ensure a seamless purchasing process Academy Medical monitors each transaction within the purchasing process to ensure product is ordered, shipped, and invoiced in a timely manner.
