Academy Medical is pleased to announce their attendance at the upcoming Veterans’ job fair in Charlotte, North Carolina, hosted by RecruitMilitary and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The event takes place on May 2 from 11:00 to 3:00 at the Bojangles’ Coliseum. Companies both large and small are hoping to find veterans to provide a new perspective to their business. 47 unique exhibitors are attending the event and seeking veterans to fill open positions at their company—from veteran-owned businesses such as Academy Medial, to major restaurant chains like Starbucks, to insurance companies like Allstate.

RecruitMilitary has provided attendees with a list of tips to hopefully help them land a job with one of these fine companies—such as conducting research, practicing an elevator speech, and more. DAV’s Mobile Service Office will be on location offering veterans with assistance for claiming benefits. The fair provides veterans free parking at the front of the building.

RecruitMilitary regularly hosts “Opportunity Expos” for transitioning military, veterans, and spouses to easily meet with recruiters from dozens of companies. It is their goal to keep veterans and their families happily employed. DAV is a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans and their families live positively. Together, they hope to change the lives of the veterans of this nation for the better.

It is a goal the staff at Academy Medical feel strongly about, as three-fourths of the executive board are veterans themselves.  As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Academy Medical knows just how important it is that the nation help serve the veterans who risked their lives for them. But what does being an SDVOSB mean for this medical supplies procurement company?

“This designation gives us priority in the procurement process,” Ryan Isham, Academy Medical’s VP of Med/Surg says. “Government purchasing agents are encouraged to utilize products offered by SDVOSB companies as their first choice in the purchasing process.  Additionally, Academy Medical has numerous sales channels to offer appropriate manufacturers to help them gain access to government contracts.”
